I have done some more research and it turns out Tridef 3D has a registry hack you can use to enable 3D in windowed mode instead of exclusive fullscreen. If anyone else has had success with tridef ignition and in-home streaming, please let me know! Just to be clear, I am talking about streaming a Top-Bottom 3D render to a Passive 3D TV, not frame packing or 120fps 3D used for active displays. Hopefully there's some fact in my theory and valve can allow this awesome feature to work in future versions! If what I think is happening is true, would it be possible to make steam (have an option to) always capture from the screen buffer, rather than the render buffer? This has likely been done to decrease latency, which is fair enough, but I get the impression this could adversely affect other things too and might be a useful compatibility option. When running in borderless fullscreen, steam seems to capture the desktop area instead, which would work with tridef except that tridef needs the game to run in full-screen. I believe tridef ignition also tries to do this, causing tridef to crash, and the game stop.

The impression I get from what I've seen so far is that, when running in true fullscreen, steam captures the render buffer for the game and streams that, rather than the screen buffer. Sadly it seems that this isn't possible with the way steam currently achieves this.

The main reason I was looking forward to steam in-home streaming was to use it wit Tridef Ignition to play my PC games on my (passive) 3D tv in the living room without moving my PC.
